In support of Kim

If there's one thing I hate, it's bullying and there is a case of cyber bullying going on right now. The victim? A dear friend and talented crafter - Kim Reygate. Readers of my blog will know I have a close association with this gifted lady and I owe much to her kindness and willingness to share her knowledge with me and many of my friends. Her patience knows no bounds. Unfortunately, the author of another blog has denigrated her name and suggested that Kim has copied the work of others.  First and foremost, Kim has no need to copy anyone's work.  She consistently comes us with fresh ideas and her blog has some of the finest samples of card making I have seen on the Internet today.  She constantly wins blog challenges and to see and handle some of her creations - often takes my breath away.
To say Kim is gifted, is an understatement but if I have to be honest, her IT skills are not her strongest suit. Therefore to suggest she has got rid of watermarks on her blog to save face, is ludicrous.  Kim is a designer for several different companies and I was delighted to see a supportive comment on her blog from Barbara Grey.  It doesn't get any better than that does it?  Kim is given brand new stamps to 'play' with and her ideas are definitely original and never copied.  As I have stated elsewhere, we all get our inspiration from the work of others, and interpret it in our own way - with the tools we have in our craft room.  Indeed, if an idea is translated to suit a crafter - the originator should be flattered.  Kim always gives credit if she has used someone else's ideas.  Check out her blog here.
Kim should be proud of her achievements and should not be bullied in this way.  I believe the author of the other blog - which is successful -  is having her say on behalf of another person but refuses to name the other, so how can Kim defend herself?  She has now deleted all the comments left in support of Kim and calls them offensive. What a controlling person she seems to be and lacks the courage to presents all the facts.  I left comments but I would never be offensive. This has gone on long enough and without proof or evidence, the matter should be closed.  There is room for everyone in our creative 'Blogland' and to suggest Kim leave it - then that would leave many of us very disenchanted.  It would be a huge loss to so many crafters the world over.  Check out her international 'hits'.  This blog is with you all the way Kim.

  1. I don't know what to say Gilly , other than I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your wonderful backing.
I only wish that this would be resolved as soon as possible because to say it is effecting me is the understatement of the century.
    Huge hugs Kimx

  3. Hi Gill, I like you had my comment deleted.
It appears alright for the other person to delete things she thinks are offensive about her but leave on the nasty comments made about Kim.
If we can believe that she has reported the comments to Blogger, I hope they do a thorough investigation and show her up for what she is, a nasty vindictive person who I believe (from now deleted comments)has done this before to other innocent people.

Hope to see you soon Sue x

  4. Hi Gill
Well said! I agree with you whole heartedly, this is just such cruel and unkind behaviour directed at Kim. She is so very talented and creates amazing cards, that she has no need whatsoever to copy others work. I have always said that Kim has a very particular style and I am getting quite good at spotting "a Kim"!!
I have seen many links on her blog to where the inspiration, idea or technique came from.

I feel so much for her, I too despise bullying in any shape or form and so hope this is sorted out without delay, it can be so soul destroying. I always feel that if someone has a grievence over something like this, then either provide the evidence for proof or keep quiet.

At least Kim knows that she has many loyal and genuine people on her side, and I so hope that this will be some comfort to her, bless her heart.

    Take care

  5. She has indeed shown her controlling and manipulating ways and publicly declare herself a victim of our nasty comments. I would never leave a nasty or spiteful comment and mine too were deleted simply because I supported Kim. None of the comments in support of Kim were in any way spiteful, not one. Pity the same cannot be said for the posters supporters who choose to lower themselves to name calling. Shame on them!

Well done on your post, Kim does not deserve this one iota, I too can spot a Kim design as she has a certain style of her own.

  6. I popped in to see Kim today, to give her a hug and she's doing great. You know, if anything, this has given her a bigger profile. And as they say, 'Any publicity is good publicity'. She has certainly had many more hits on her blog. So looking on the positive side, I think we ought to thank Brenda!

  7. Hi Gill
So glad to hear that Kim is doing okay, bless her heart. So pleased she has such a caring, supportive friend as you to boost her up. Hate nastiness, why do people have to be so cruel and wicked? Beyond me. As I constantly tell my eleven year old son, you have to be kind and compassionate to others and if you don't want it done to you then don't do it to others!
Like your "on the positive side" comment!
Take care, please give Kim a hug from me next time you see her, thanks!

  9. Sorry, I forgot to say, yesterday I read the last entry on Taffy Till's blog and it made me cry. So moving and lovely! I absolutely adore dogs (well, all animals to be honest!) and the passing of them is totally heartbreaking. We have a rescued Saluki X Greyound, now about nine, we think he was around two when we got him. He was in a terrible way then, skinny, terrified, untrusting, it probably took a year for him to come out of himself and his character to really come through. He still flinches though if you go to stroke the top of his head. I love him to absolute bits, he's just adorable! A bit of a thief on the quiet though!

  10. Well Debs we must have a lot in common. We love Kim and dogs! Please send a photo of your lovely dog and I'll post it here. What a lucky boy to have found a home with you. We miss our Taffy terribly but I walk a lovely border collie for a charity called The Cinnamon Trust which helps the elderly and terminally ill, so I have fur and paws in my life still. His name is Ben and he features on Taffy Till's blog many times - in often hilarious circumstances. Sorry you cried over his obit. Can you imagine how hard it was to write it? Gill x

  11. I will try and do that but technology and me are a disaster!! That is lovely that you still have a furry friend to walk, I feel not having a dog in your life is very empty, even if you are surrounded by people.
I can honestly say I can imagine how hard it must have been for you to write Taffy's obit but your did him really proud.
Our previous dog, Sophs, was a greyhound/border collie and soooo intelligent! Whereas, Alfie can be a bit daft but whether that is all an act and he is really very switched on, is open to debate!
So envious of you doing a class with Kim tomorrow! I have only been lucky enough to do one her classes, that was nearly a couple of years ago at the Eternal Maker in Chichester. It was down as being cards for men, but there was a muddle up and it was spotlight stamping instead, which I'd never seen before and I loved it! So hope that Kim may be there again one day! I live a few miles north of Portsmouth and there is a distinct lack of classes around here, which is such a shame.
I have been to three of Jenny Mayes workshops at the Glitter Pot with friends, and these were fabulous! Really like Jenny, she explains so well and is so helpful. Hope to go again but my friend who does the driving hasn't been able to go due to her hubby being very poorly but he is on the mend now, so fingers crossed!
Anyway, have a great day tomorrow with Kim!
Hope to see your cards on here!(Haven't been able to put any cards on my page because my camera isn't working but hope to do so at some stage.)
    Hugs
